Jeroen & Jeroen are the founders of Belsimpel and Gomibo. As young students in Groningen, the Netherlands, they started their first webshop in 2006. Now, together with more than 700 colleagues, they fight every day for the best offer of phones, tablets, and accessories. Our mission? To help everyone find what suits them best: whether you already know what you are looking for, or whether you need a little help and advice.
It's 2006: Groningen students Jeroen Doorenbos (21) and Jeroen Elkhuizen (23) start web shop Metjelaptoponline.nl from the comfort of their student house. Two years later successor Belsimpel.nl is registered and in the following years the web shop wins several prizes, including the Deloitte Technology Fast50 Award in 2012. In 2014 Belsimpel opens its first physical store in Groningen, in The Netherlands. By now Belsimpel has 7 stores spread throughout the Netherlands, where customers can go with all their questions. In 2018 ‘Belsimpel.nl’ becomes ‘Belsimpel’ and a new campaign starts: De Belsimpel Methode™. The launch of the Belsimpel app is also a fact. Starting in 2019, the Bizarre Belsimpel Dagen are a recurring special offer period and Belsimpel expands shipping: you can now order your phone from Germany, Finland, and the United Kingdom, among others. With your Belsimpel account you will have insight into all your data, contracts, and previous orders as from August 2019.
In no time at all, Belsimpel has grown from a company in a student room into one of the largest players on the Dutch telecoms market, with increasing influence in the European market!
Gomibo
In November 2020 Belsimpel officially expands abroad with a new name: Gomibo. The expansion starts in Germany, with Gomibo.de. In the following months, Gomibo websites will follow in 15 other European countries, including France, Italy, and Ireland.

In July 2023, Gomibo officially gets certified as a Great Place To Work. The questionnaire conducted among all colleagues showed that Gomibo scored 78% on the basis of trust, pride, and fun, also known as the Trust Index. This score has been rewarded with the GPTW certificate. |

Aside from making a difference in the European market, Belsimpel is also internationalising internally. We now have 750 colleagues with more than 20 different nationalities. |

Belsimpel expands further into Europe under the domain name Gomibo. Customers from a total of fifteen countries can now order on their own domain. Gomibo operates in more than 27 European countries. In countries including Luxembourg, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Czechia, Ireland, Portugal, Malta, Hungary and Cyprus, Gomibo is working to make a difference in the local market and thus change the international Mobile World.

This is a year of prizes for Belsimpel. We win the Deloitte Technology Fast500 EMEA 2014 and the FD Gouden Gazelle Noord-Nederland 2014. With a 4th place in the Deloitte Technology Fast50 it doesn't seem to get any better, but in December we add another award to our collection: winner of the 1st Oryx Award for the most remarkable growth. Our customer service is now available until 23:30 on weekdays. |

Belsimpel is the first webshop in the telecom sector to offer the possibility to return products free of charge up to 31 days after purchase. In the meantime Belsimpel has 50 employees and welcomes its 100,000th unique customer. Belsimpel also receives numerous awards. We win the Telecom Deloitte Technology Fast500 EMEA industry award, the Deloitte Technology Fast50 Award, and the Sprout Challenger 50 audience award! In the Technology Fast50 Award, our growth of 16155% in the last five years gives us a big lead over the runner-up with 3509%. |
| 2011 | Belsimpel becomes e-tailer of the year in the Netherlands for the second time. Turnover grows to 12 million and more than 50,000 orders are processed. |
